Frequently Asked Questions

What should the video include?

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are unable to hold the CHSI 2020-21 competition in-person in our traditional format. In place, we are using a pre-recorded video to judge applicant teams. The 3-5 minute video should be of you or your team* explaining/demonstrating the following:

  1. Your background
  2. Your idea/product/company
  3. How you came up with your idea/product/company
  4. Your passion

We highly encourage idea/product demos for your video to help the judges visualize.

*CHSI does not encourage teams gathering in-person to make their video, but may do so at their own risk based upon individual decisions by team members. Please contact bwwhitt@ilstu.edu to learn how to make your video with your team using Zoom and basic editing software

Will my idea be made public?

In order to participate in the CHSI People’s Choice Award, we will be publicly displaying your team name, 3-5 minute video, 1,500 word essay, and any pictures or media you provide us.

What is the People's Choice Award?

The People’s Choice Award is an award given out to the team who recieves the most votes. The voting begins on November 2nd, 2020 at 12:00AM, and ends on November 15th at 11:49PM. The winning team will recieve $500

What is required to enter in the competition?

Does everyone on my team need to register?
NO. Only 1 person from your team needs to register. There will be a place to indicate how many team members you have.
Is my idea good enough?
